Just wondering if anyone has run into the dreaded "out of buffer space" problem before?
I've been running FreeBSD, various versions, since about 4.2, and am currently having buffer problems with both 4.10 and 5.3.
These boxes were both upgraded from 4.6-4.10 and 5.2-5.3 respectively.
I've noticed it to be PPP related, in particular using ADSL over the standard PPP software (and an alcatel speedtouch home ethernet ADSL modem), as per the instructions in the FreeBSD handbook.
As mentioned, I've run FreeBSD in various situations for some time, and I've never noticed the problem until I started using ADSL. Basically, after a couple of days, but usually within a week, the PPP connection just stops and only a reboot will fix it.
I've searched long and hard with Google, and various people seem to have had buffer problems before, but none of the "solutions" i've seen suggested so far seem to apply...
Surely someone else has had similar issues? Any ideas, or ideas of what commands I can run to gather further info for someone who might have a clue?
ps, thanks dan for an invaluable site. Its been very useful over the years :)
