 How to monitor TCP/IP trafic on a NIC

I want to log and calculate the TCP/IP trafic on an interface ... how can I do that , and wich program may I use ???

If you're using FreeBSD 4.1 Stable, check out Ethereal, it's included with the ports collection and is insanely detailed in the info it provides you. Or you can check it out @ www.ethereal.com

There is also ntop but it's not really the best. Ethereal is the best, but ntop could be used as a complementary tool. Have fun!
