why no search on front page

Over a year ago, in a fit of frustration, I dumped Linux in favor of FreeBSD and haven't looked back.

FreeBSD Diary has consistently been one of the most helpful sites for problems big and small. And now we have FreshPorts also; both sites have been invaluable.

But, what I miss most from each site is a easily accessable search box. I'd love to have a small search box someone on the front page. Maybe under the polls, or at the bottom. Anywhere, really, would make me a happy camper.

Or maybe I'm just lazy.

Either way, many thanks to Dan for all his help along the way. Keep up the good work,

The answer is simple: to get me one more page hit on my ads....

Actually: it's more like I've never done it. You're not the first to ask. It's a matter of priorities. I have a whole list of things I want to do. And the search box on the front page isn't at the top of the list. Closer to the top of the list is:

- adding the article date to the search results
- creating a master list of the most important atricles (some articles have been replaced by more recent events, but they are still listed under the topics page for completeness)
- allowing user comments to appear at the bottom of each article (instead of in the feedback forum).

Yeah, I know it would only take an hour or so to add what you want. Now: if someone went and did that for me, and send me the code, that would speed things up considerably....

thanks for the kind words of support
