 Botched upgrade from 4.6 -> 4.7
Author: Kang Soh

Hey all,

I am a newbie, and after having gotten 4.6-Stable up, running and configured on a machine, I tried to upgrade the system using /stand/sysinstall to 4.7-Release. I got the upgrade to work via FTP, and after giving me a message that the upgade completed successfully, I rebooted and am now greeted with the message: "Unable to load kernel: Aborted!" followed by "can't load 'kernel'" and "can't load 'kernel.old'". Oops! I have tried seaching around, and I cannot seem to find an answer to the problem I'm facing. Any advice/help/support would be greatly appreciated.

Assuming you have a machine with DOS available, you might want to create a boot disk.

I've never used /stand/sysinstall to upgrade,but you may want to read up on using cvsup and make world to upgrade.
