 CPU-temperature and fan speed?
Author: Begbie

Hi guys

Since my server was awfully loud I decided to buy a better and more silent power pack. I then figured out that it was not the fan of the power pack but the fan of the chassis which made the noise. So I decided to switch this fan off. I think that the fan of the power unit will do enough for this small server but I would like to check now and then to make sure that the cpu-temperature is ok. I noticed that the BIOS for example or certain Windows-tools have this information so I figured that it must be possible for other software to gather this information. But is there such software for FreeBSD?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

There are a couple of ports to take a look at depending on your BIOS. I've used two of them in different machines and they work fine *if* your BIOS is supported. If it's not, you're out of luck :)

Anyway, the ports: xmbmon, healthd, and lmmon either in sercurity or misc, don't remember.

You might also take a look at they are fanatical about silence, but have some good reviews of quiet fans...
