 Sendmail - no mail being routed?
Author: Matt

Hope someone can assist please.

Currently running 4.7 STABLE and trying to get sendmail to deliver and accept mail (www using perl forms). Currently this is all in the 'lab' but the machine is connected to the LAN and is able to 'see' the internet.

Any e-mail being sent out is showing up in the maillog as;

Nov 25 13:39:33 support sm-msp-queue[87]: gaAKGWjaP039454: to=root ctladdr=root (0/0), delay=4+10:26:00, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=relay, pri=570065, relay=[localhost], dsn=4.0.0, stat=Deferred: Operation timed out with [localhost]

resolv.conf seems to be configured okay (i.e. ping localhost), and everything else seems to be working (i.e. www, etc). Just can't seem to bet the e-mail out. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

PS: Anyone no of a easy way to test incoming mail (want to make sure it is redirected to a perl script) Thanks.

Never Mind ....!!!!

I knew that I had tha answer somewhere - it's in the "submit.cf" you need to change the line;

DMTAHost{[localhost]}

to

DMTAHost{[127.0.0.1]}

Well at least it worked for me - now if I can figure out how to test incoming mail.
