 PPP Script stopped Working
Author: Joe Kiser

Hi,
I've been using the ppp scripts and kppp to connect to my ISP (Mindspring) since...forever, and recently they stopped working. At first, I would connect to Mindspring, but nothing would work. ping, Netscape-3, and all my other net programs would just freeze. So I would kill them, disconnect, reconnect, and after a few more times, everything would work properly.
This was annoying, having to ping my ISP everytime I connected, and having to connect three or four times, so I thought maybe it was a problem in 4.0-STABLE. I installed 3.2-RELEASE, which I know works, but now it just disconnects after PPP loads (I can login fine). I've tried minicom and then exiting and running pppd /dev/cuaa2, and that disconnects also.
I can't remember the output, but it's something like this:
pppd /dev/cuaa2 Hangup, Disconnected after 1 minutes.
Mindspring recommended me upgrade my modem driver. That would be fine if this were Windows, but unfortunately, Windows internet works alright.
Anyone else on Mindspring having this problem? Anyone have similar experiences on other ISPs?
I would really like to update my ports and run KDE-1.90, so please help.
