 Bsd 4.2 and 2 nics

Need help with this one..

I am trying to use 2 nics on 1 bsd machine. The 1st one for my cable modem and 2nd for my small LAN. When i configure either one, both nics change at the same time (both nics de0 and ae0 mirror image each other's ip info) and i only get either LAN or cablemodem but not both connections at the same time.

Can someone help? Thanks for reading....

We need more information. How are you configuring these NICs? What commands? Show us "ifconfig -a" before, then the commands you use, then "ifconfig -a" after.

I think he's doing it through /stand/sysinstall

I had that problem until I worked out how to use ifconfig
