 VNC & KDE
Author: Mike Mullins

I am using VNC to remote to a FreeBSD box that is running KDE. I can connect OK but can only get the TWM Desktop. I would like to have KDE as the desktop when I log in.I have searched, both under KDE and VNC, but can't locate any info on how to set this up. Any help is graciously appreciated. Thanks

cd ~/.vnc/
and look for a file called xstartup

This is the xstartup script for vnc.
You should also be able to turn it into a symbolic link to your normal xstartup script.

keep in mind that KDE is going to MUCH slower than TWM. In my experience Gnome was a little faster, Enlightenment was fairly decent, and Black Box was the fastest of all (once I got used to its wacky configuration). All in all, it was not like running them local, though, so i finally said forget it and went back to good ole' ssh.

Thanks Daniel.
I guess I just change the TWM reference to KDE...........
I'll give that a try. :-)
