i have read in various places where some people would start window manager in background, and launch a program like xterm or xclock in foreground. i have always wondered why...

...well, i had to wonder no more when after starting tvtwm from fvwm2 (i was rebuilding fvwm2 due to a dependency upgrade), i could not possibly (re)start fvwm2 (or, any other wm) from tvtwm.

in xinitrc, i used to have equivalent of this...

aterm &
fvwm2

...now that i'm a bit wiser, i have...

fvwm2 &
aterm

...oh, if i close that aterm, i will be none the wiser, needless to say. perhaps i should, execute rclock in foreground...
