I previously wrote a email to the webmaster of this site, but recieved no response to my knowledge. We are interested in mirroring your vast content of this site on hack-net.com to the millions of users that visit us weekly, as well as premiering articles you may see as featured.
I believe we can come to an agreement that can be mutually beneficial, and will grasp a large sect of exposure moreso for the great information and tutorials presented on this site.
Please get in contact with me at your earliest convenience, either way, just so we know what your thoughts are on this.

Yes, you did. You did contact me. That was back on 18 December. And yes, you are correct, you did not receive a reply from me.
I don't mirror the website, although I have given permission for articles to be published elsewhere (the Daemon News BSD magazine for example).
How does this work? You link to my site? You draw content from my site? The articles appear on your website?
cheers

We didn't want to do with without your explicit permission is all. I know that alot of people generally do not dig having content stripped from their site just to facilitate some elses ventures. I could not find a clear/clean reference to that situation, if it was allowable or not. Is there anything that you believe we might be able to help you with?
Do you happen to have a banner of 437 x 60 pixels that you'd like us to present? Or would you rather we created one for you?

I have none of that size. I have 480x60, which is pretty standard. Why do you use 437x60 instead?
Sure, by all means, do up some artwork and let me see.

Just a size we came to utilize in every version of the interface. Might have stemmed from v.1.2 where the bordering element was a bit confined in the top table.
If you could, give me a URL to that banner, and I'll look it over to get a feel for what your style is. Then I'll see if I can either reduce or make a mockup of a similar setting.
Thanks.

That's good.
Suggestions:
- The URL is small on my screen. Perhaps losing or making it larger
- The slogan: how about "The premium guide to practical examples"
- I prefer to refer to the site as "The FreeBSD Diary". Can that word get added in?
cheers

I will have it all updated tommorrow with the suggestions you requested. As well, once it is done, if you want to use it for you own purposes, I'll be happy to send you a copy of the flash and .gif for later usage.

No problem. It was created in Photoshop 6 and Flash 5, and then converted to a .gif format through Flash 5.
I'll send you the original .fla and .swf. Just tell me what address you want me to send it to.

Dan,
I saw you're needing a shell to do things here and there from. I've got a server out of Dallas running freebsd 4.5-prerelease off a T1. I might drop you a account if you can give me a general idea of what it's use will be for.

examples:
- I've just set up a new box. I want to be sure *I* can ssh to it from my existing boxes but nobody else can. test: telnet a.b.c.d 22
- I've added a cvsup server to a box. I want to be sure it cannot be accessed by the public. test: telnet a.b.c.d 5999
