ntfsresize

The ntfsresize utility is another option if the filesystem is in the NTFS format. There area couple places out there with free recovery CDs that include qtparted and ntfsresize.

Forgot to say thanks! My work gave me a ThinkPad R51 to some of this will come in handy (and I didn't know about the Xplanet clouds--too cool).
