How usable or "stable" is freebsd 5.0 ? I plan on using it because it supports the isa pnp isdn fritzcard. It's going to be my Desktop machine and server for my small lan.

Basically, if you are asking this question, then -current is not for you (that's what 5.0 is, -current). -current is not a way to get the latest features. Refer to the FreeBSD handbook for that point of view. Stick with stable.
