 Input/output errors w/ floppy
Author: dragon12

Hi,

I put FreeBSD 5.4 on a Dell CP 233 laptop. Older then dirt but works pretty well with FreeBSD. I want to back up some of the more important files on floppy. I went to the handbook and followed the instructions to put a newfs on a floppy, but I keep getting the following error:
newfs: wtfs: 512 bytes at sector 2879: Input/output error

The disk is less then a month old and I can mount and cp a file to it. but I can't tar a file to the floppy using:
tar -cvf /dev/fd0 *

I keep getting I/O errors with more then one floppy.
What the fsck is going on? is the floppy drive bad?

Thanks in advance,

Dave
