 ./configure Host
Author: frank bebag

On an iBook G3, osx 10.3, in the terminal, when trying to compile from source, using ./configure, get the message "configure: error: can not guess host type; you must specify one", does this with all source that ive tried to compile. How does one find and specify the correct host.

IIRC, OSX uses FreeBSD as the backend, so your question is in the right place.

You might check /etc/hosts and see what's in there. Most BSD based compilations that require hostnames run the command: hostname.

If you run that manually and can't get a host off that, you might want to set it manually:

hostname -s macosxbizzox
