 Notice: IPFilter and Memory

To All:

Anyone is planing to use 5-Stable version to be as a firewall with IPFilter. Make sure you compile your kernel with "device mem" in your kernel configuration, otherwise you will see "ipnat" will not load and an error like "openkmem: file not open" when you use "ipnat -l" to see mapping.

Enjoy new 5-Stable,

Dang Huynh

Odd. I thought device mem was enabled in the 5 series by default. Which version of 5 are you using?

Not to downplay FreeBSD in a firewall capacity, but you might do better to build an IPCop firewall machine instead and harden the BSD machines in the DMZ.
