Strange Problem in the VPN client
Author: Atanasis

Hello guys.
I have been trying to connect to my ISP via the vpn method you described..but some hours of testing and nothing, thats why i decided to post here. Sorry this will be a little long thread but i want to explain everything.

Ok here it is:
I am running FreeBSD 5.2
my pptpclient is ver. 1.3.1
my pppd is 2.3

I read that pppd must be new..but i had no problems authenticating via PAP to my vpn server.

So, I am on a wireless connection to my ISP and i have local network address
10.0.2.16 on acx0 interface. There is no problem here.
My gateway is 10.0.2.1
My VPN server is 10.0.0.3
So I am doing
route add default 10.0.2.1 to have access to the vpn server.

This is my ppp.cong config:
VIZICOMP:
set authname myusername
set authkey mypassword
set timeout 0
set ifaddr 0 0
add 10.0.0.3/24 HISADDR
alias enable yes

Is there error in the ppp.conf from the info i supplied till here?

now i am connecting to the vpn server by:
ppptp 10.0.0.3 VIZICOMP

ok it connects, and authenticates successful as i see from the logs.
and it brings me up the interface tun0 where it sets my client ip to 10.0.1.5
and the server ip to 10.0.1.254

Now to tell you some notes. I think the whole problem is messing something the gateways...since before i connect to the vpn with my default gateway 10.0.2.1 i have ping to my vpn server (10.0.0.3) and to the 10.0.1.254 , but when the vpnclient connects the ping till 10.0.0.3 remains but to 10.0.1.254 fails. Then i execute "route get -host 10.0.1.254" and i see that it have set 10.0.1.254 as destination, route to and gateway for that...Also from the logs i see that the vpn client tries to set some new gateway and it fails..so take a look at the logs

Here are the logs:

So i am getting messed is the problem from me, or from my ISP and considering the fact that from my win xp , i have no problems with the vpn...so i mostly thing the problem is from my freebsd box..but i can't resolv the problem alone, so i count on your help...also notify me if you don't understand something or need more information to help me resolv the problem.

Thanks in advance!
