I'd like to remove KDE and keep XFCE but use console more. I need to free space on my tiny hard dive. How do I ditch KDE and any suggestions on where else I should look for my diet.

I have no idea bout KDE, but you could clean out /usr/ports (cd /usr/ports; make clean) which could free up a lot of room... and maybe clean out /usr/ports/distfiles...

To remove KDE if you installed it via ports, go in the port directory and type make deinstall (or uninstall). If you installed it via packages check out the /var/db dir and look for the installed KDE packages and use /usr/sbin/pkg_delete.

Good luck!

kde is kinda tricky to remove, i usually do the following:

pkg_info | grep -i kde

then start deleting them by pkg_delete "packagename+versionnumber"...

if you didn't install it using a port, you can look in /usr/X11R6 for anything that looks related to kde, or /usr/local/X11R6 if that's where kde threw itself into.
