 Hacked?
Author: Isaac
Date:   21-02-03 18:36

My BSD box keeps restarting on its own. I'm not sure why this could be happening is there some other reason this could happen other than if someone hacked it? I havenít noticed any strange processes running on it. Things seem to be working fine when its on, its just restarting.

Mine was doing that too...

the only culprit i could find was DRI in the XF86Config...
It started right after i enabled it, stopped after i disabled it.
i have an ATI Rage128 with the proper kernel code, but as of last checking (2 days ago), X was very unstable with the Rage128...

if you are running X, this may be it.

I don't run any sort of X on my machine.

could also be heat, or an app is just not happy and causing some sort of panic.

I live in Boston MA, and beleve me heat is not an issue at the moment :) Though the box is living in a nice small corner of a closet, you could be right. It hasn't re-started for over 4 days now, so I'm going to chalk it up to old crappy hardware. Thanks for the insite.
