 ata0 error
Author: Penny

Help please. I've just pulled a nicely installed FreeBSD4.7 disk from one box and put it in a new box. The old box was a p3 1.2ghz, w/ultra-ata ide controller. The new box is p4 2ghz w/ultra-ata ide controller. The disk is ultra ata.
On boot, things look good til it gets to ata0 when it says "resetting devices.." and just hangs there. I've checked cables, connections etc. but can't find the problem.
any ideas?
O and I tried booting from kern.flp and got the same message.

IF jumpers, conections, etc. are all good, it could be the DMA is causing problems.

Try pausing the bootloader and enter:
set hw.ata.ata_dma=0
boot

And see if that will work. There could be other solutions.
