change their shell to /sbin/nologin and add /sbin/nolgin to /etc/shells.

this will allow ftp but no shell

cgi-scripts should be written in perl.
as long as the script starts with #!/path/to/shell/or/perl then all scripts will run.

you are just preventing login... nothing else.

Thanx for the info, daniel - does make sence ..

One more question for you about 3ware card like in a past post you said you use one. Got it all working great but sept the email notification dosn't work for me. I have qmail running , and has been working for years, but sept when I goto the browser page for 3ware http://www.mydomainame.com:1080 and click on send test messages nothing normally happens. Once in a while when I try one will get through. Do you know if theres a sendmail setting within a script or something somewhere.

Many thanx Daniel

i have never gotten a test message when i tried to send it, but it does email me if something happens and the box is rebooted.

i think the test message issue may be a bug.

as long as the mailserver settings are valid and the user it is sending to is valid, you should get the important messages.

It didn't disappear. You are looking in the wrong place. You posted it in the Scipts/Handy tips section.
