 Which box?
Author: mark

I am on a tight budgetand want to build a solid box.
I can get a dual pentium pro (200mhz x2) it is a HP netserver withSCSI hot swaps. The other box is a Dual Pentium 3(500mhz x2)
I had set up NFS/SAMBA and various other services, but like a newbie I used IDE and fried out both channels on a pentium2 and apentium 200, now I knwo to use scsi with multiple channels.
Which box is best for learning, the pentium pro is about 6 years old I think. It runs strong, however the Dual P3 has no OS how can I test the validity of the DUAL p3 without an OS?

thanks

mark

huh? NFS/Samba has nothing to do with 'frying both channels' (what ever that may mean...)

buy which ever will suit you best... if you actually plan to use this as a public box, the faster the better... but if it is just a person test server, either will work...
