Hello,
Thanks for answering!
Both manually and automated give me the same result.
I believe I am missing something in the only file I have
which is /etc/ppp/ppp.conf.

what does the ppp log says? "man ppp" details the options that can be used
to log information about a ppp session. the man page is quite detailed
and lucid compare to many other man pages out there.

put the the following in the "default:" profile to help you indentify the
problem...

set log chat command connect debug dns hdlc ipcp lcp lqm phase physical tcp/ip tun

...or if using ppp interactively, add "local" after "set log".
report back about what ppp says is the reason for a improper
connection.

i don't if it helps you or not, below is my /etc/ppp/ppp.conf...

default:
#set log chat command connect debug dns hdlc ipcp lcp lqm phase physical tcp/ip tun
#set log chat command connect debug dns hdlc ipcp lcp lqm phase tcp/ip
#set log connect dns hdlc ipcp phase tcp/ip tun
set log chat connect dns ipcp phase tun
#set log chat command connect dns ipcp lcp lqm phase tcp/ip
#set log chat command connect dns ipcp phase

set urgent none

set redial 6.2 4
set reconnect 1 5
set timeout 900 600

set mode auto
set openmode active 2
set device /dev/cuaa1
set ifaddr 10.0.0.1/0 10.0.0.2/0 255.255.255.255 0.0.0.0
#set ifaddr 0.0.0.0/0 10.0.0.2/0 255.255.255.255 0.0.0.0

enable lqr
accept lqr

iface clear
add default HISADDR
nat enable no
#enable dns
#resolv readonly

Thanks again for answering.
I tried your script, I didn't connect at all.

I don't know if ppp gets affected by versions, in any case
I am running release 4.6.

To the default /ppp.conf I did very few modifications.

I am starting to believe that I have problems with authentication
but haven't been able to speak to somebody who knows at my ISP's.

Next thing, I don't remember how to bring that big log file into
windows to mail to you but here are a few of the last lines of the log.

518----->:tun0:phase:ppp started interactive
524----->:phase:deflink created in closed state.
536----->:tun0:phase:deflink:connected
537----->:tun0:phase:deflink:openning carrier.
538----->:tun0:phase:deflink:/dev/cuaa0 doesn't support CD (Strange eh!)
539----->:tun0:phase:deflink carrier--->ready
I think that at this point I give my username and password to the system and it responds with AUTHENTICATION FAILED

There are not packets sent or received.
