C-media on-board sound cards in FreeBSD??
Author: CoderZ

Hey,

I've been re-compiling, rebooting, and re-reading everything I can find about doing sound under FreeBSD. I am at the point of almost giving up.

I have the C-media CMI9738 on-board sound card, which there seems to be no documentation on (at least not in english; I don't read taiwanese).

I've added "device pcm", "option PNPBIOS", etc, to a kernel and re-compiled, rebooted, but no matter what I do, there is no "pcm0" or "pcm1" device listed in dmesg.

Should I spend $10 and go get a cheapo sound-blaster?

What's the most likely sound card to succeed?

Thanks y'all
