 INN News Server Configuration
Author: Rajesh
Date:   24-01-03 04:29

Hi,

I installed INN News Server 2.3.0 though it is old but sufficient for me because it is only for the local purpose, and I created the newsgroups also.
But while connecting through Outlook Express client, I am not able to view the list of groups.
I have configured the inndstart to start on port different from 119 because it is used by NNTP service, so I used 790 which was empty.

I did all things on SuSE Linux 8.1

Can anybody help me, for all the configurations that I need to simple Read and post in the newsgroups.

Thanks in advance
Rajesh

#1. This is called the "FreeBSD Diary" not the "SuseLinux Diary"
In the future please ask Linux questions elsewhere.

#2. If this is just for personal use or a small number of users,
why are you bothering with INN? A better alternative is
slrnpull or suck.

#3. If for some reason you insist on using INN and changed ports,
did you make the appropriate changes in the news client?

Correction on #2. I meant to say "newsfetch" instead of suck, as
suck requires the use of a newsserver program, which is overkill for an individual or a small number of users.

NNTP is for the News-Server default, so your Reader isnīt configured for your different Port!

So long ...
