Hi
I recieved this log in my root email that was sent to me, and wanted to know what it means ? Like if it's an error or something. I don't use audio, but probably forgot to disable from bios of motherboard since audio is built in.
shell.mysever.com kernel log messages:
> VIA 82C686 AC97 Audio> port 0xa400-0xa403,0xa000-0xa003,0x9c00-0x9cff irq 5 at device 7.5 on pci0
The mother board is a biostar if that helps any..
Thanks
Aaron

the tail of your logs gets mailed to root every night... its normal... this one reflects part of dmesg
its part of the daily scripts.
it will also tell you how many packets you blocked if running ipfw or ipfilter...
its pretty nice....

Hi and thanx for your reply
I know about the logs sent to root, and your right - they are cool, but have never seen the below in the kernal log and was just woundering what the log meant. For the past year the following log was never there. Just wounder why it's there now and what it means.
shell.mysever.com kernel log messages:
> VIA 82C686 AC97 Audio> port 0xa400-0xa403,0xa000-0xa003,0x9c00-0x9cff irq 5 at device 7.5 on pci0
Thanx Aaron

it is just identifying the onboard sound card... nothing to worry about...
it is from your dmesg, which is logged to kernel.log at boot
