There are a couple of ports to take a look at depending on your BIOS. I've used two of them in different machines and they work fine *if* your BIOS is supported. If it's not, you're out of luck :)

Anyway, the ports: xmbmon, healthd, and lmmon either in sercurity or misc, don't remember.

You might also take a look at silentpcreview.com. they are fanatical about silence, but have some good reviews of quiet fans...
