Author: Daryl

I added some shells and archivers and now when I login to root: I get a message that says, "/usr/local/bin/bash: No such file or directory" as my response. Thanks.

Boot into single user mode, change root's shell, and try again.

make sure bash is still listed in /etc/shells, check to see that it is installed, and make sure it was installed to the right location.
The following is an example:

10:27:19:d_jab@carbon (/dev/ttyp1): 1 ~
>> <b>grep bash /etc/shells</b>
/usr/local/bin/bash
10:27:34:d_jab@carbon (/dev/ttyp1): 2 ~
>> <b>pkg_info | grep bash</b>
bash-2.05b.004 The GNU Bourne Again Shell
10:28:48:d_jab@carbon (/dev/ttyp1): 3 ~
>> <b>pkg_info -p `pkg_info | grep bash | awk '{print $1}'`</b>
Information for bash-2.05b.004:

Prefix(s):
CWD to /usr/local
