ok so i have been doing some research... if i put the mail server outside the gateway... their will be a 10 - 15% slow down... this is due to it having to go externally to get its email (from the gateway to the router and back to the email server)... is their a way i can bridge from the gateway to the email server still keep the 100mbs ethernet... my contention on this is that its worth the security to keep the email server outside the network...
