I install FreeBSD quit alot and this is a first. It freezes at Starting Standard Daemons: inetd...etc...I have to ctrl+c to go one and then every thing seems a bit slow. This is a dual boot on a seperate HD with windows 2000. Thanks.

check /etc/rc.conf and compare it to /etc/defaults/rc.conf. it sounds like you have a misconfiguration somewhere in there... also check your /etc/resolv.conf. something may not be resolving correctly and it could be waiting for a timeout.

as a side note, have tried just letting it go and seeing if it does continue to boot on its own? give it some time on next boot and see how long it takes...

Well I let it go and about 10min later it boots. But the problem with it being slow is still there. It takes KDE at least 20min to get to the point it has the desktop and the K bar. Then programs take 5min to launch. This is very odd because with 4.5 this all works perfect, but when I upgraded to 4.6 this all started. Thanks for help, hope someone has some more answers.

P.S: I added no new packages or configurations besides a new router when I upgraded. Thanks.

a lot of things rely on having full connectivity and being able to resolve hostnames. Have you checked your resolv.conf and your network connections?

Well ,due to a headache I went back to freebsd 4.5, and every thing works. Internet, LAN, kde etc... Doe the curious...sendmail was not what was freezing it was what came after it....-clientdhcp. And resolv.conf contained:
search homeportal.2wire.net(my router)
nameserver 172.16.0.1(also my router)
if anyone has any ideas plez post because kde 3 looks sweet! so does the rest of FreeBSD. But until then thanks!

change nameserver line to one of the nameservers of your provider. add more nameserver lines since providers always have more than one.
remove the search line... the search line is used to automatically append the domainname to hostnames that don't include the domainname.
i own sec-d.net, int.sec-d.net, and anonymous-daemon.org so i have those in my search line. then i can type just the hostname and get a response.
for example i can reach all of my systems by using just their hostname instead of their FQDN: ping aluminum, ping carbon, ping cobalt, etc...
