 System Requirements for FreeBSD
Author: spencer davey

Hi,

I've put together a computer from old parts hoping to run Freebsd and maybe slackware linux to play around with. How well will the freebsd/linux run with this setup:

cyrix 6x86 (120mhz I think)
32 megs ram
1gig ide hard drive
540 mb ide hard drive
video card with 2 meg ram
sound card (sound blaster compatable)
56k/V.90 modem (non-winmodem)

Also I may make an attempt to run a website (small) using freebsd. With that added to the load, how will my box hold up? Is there anything that NEEDS replaceing?

Thanks
Spencer

That will run a website fine. Depends on the traffic of course, but it'll be just fine. If you're talking about 100,000+ hits a day, perhaps you need more memory, but otherwise, you'll do just fine with that.
