I went to check the hardware list at FreeBSD.org, and saw that
only one modem( 3com something) is supported. I'm wondering if
this is true? I have an Actiontec internal callwaiting modem, and wonder if there is any way to get it to work with freeBSD. I'm a
newbie to FreeBSD so any help would be greatly appreciated.

basically...unless its an external modem, its not supported.
any usrobotics/3com external modem will work great, but pci/isa modems are also know as 'winmodems', ie...they only work in windows...

My modem is internal but definitely not a "winmodem". It is supported by Linux. Guess that i'll have to get a new one. :(
thanks for your reply.
