 Minor Grammatical Error
Author: Greg Roberts
Date:   01-07-00 11:13

There is a miniscule error in the latest (as of 07/01/00 05:06am EST) article, FreshPorts 1.1 lives! at http://www.freebsddiary.org/freshports-1.1.html, the text:

I've upgraded the site so that it refreshes its information much quicker than before.

should probably be:

I've upgraded the site so that it refreshes its information much quickly than before.

I know, two whole letters and I make a post, but it's 5am and I'm bored :P

My, but you are bored.

But no, "much quickly" is not correct. "Much more quickly" is appropriate. But I think "much faster" is better.

If we want to get real nit picky, replace "more quickly" with an actual time frame. "Fresh ports now updates daily, at midnight." Well, this does end the sentence with a preposition, but, I have to leave room for somebody else to improve my work:)

Actually, it doesn't update at a regular time. It updates as and when a new entry is placed in the main FreeBSD respository. The only time you should see [refresh] beside a port is

1 - for a very large commit (in which case some ports in that commit will have [refresh] and some won't)

2 - right after a commit and before FreshPorts has finished updating (a very small window)

3 - when a problem with the FreshPorts update has occurred (not very common)
