 about compile kernel
Author: meaculpa

it was strange!
i have a 486 machine with 8M ram and 2.1G harddisk.after installed FreeBSD 2.2.7 Release,i found the kernel compiling could not finish.it always report some error message at filesystem(i.e. NFS support).if i remove it,then the next config will be error point.

who can tell me,at 486 machine, what should i notice in FreeBSD kernel config?
oh,i forget, the GENERIC kernel can work fine.

Alway keep a backup copy of your kernel configuration file before modifying it. I'd start again with a fresh copy of GENERIC if you don't have a backup.
