 HELP pwd_mkdb: corrupted entry
Author: Norman Khine
Date:   03-05-00 19:53

I have just installed FreeBSD 4.0 -RELESE.

The first thing, I noticed was that once it installed, the master.passwd file had been writen as passwd in the /etc directory!?! Is this correct or is it just something I've done?

When I updated the passwd file and then went to pwd_mkdb passwd, I got an ERROR

pwd_mkdb: corrupted entry
pwd_mkdb: at line #3
pwd_mkdb: master.passwd: Inapropriate file type or format

Any advice wiil be greatly appriciated

Don't edit the passwd file. use vipw.
