 IP Filter.
Author: Nelson
Date:   18-04-00 08:20

Hello,there:
I installed IPFilter in my machine running FreeBSD 3.4
according to the steps described in the articles.
Everything was fine until I loaded the module, there's
an error msg shown as follows:

#modload /lkm/if_ipl.o
modload: /dev/lkm: Device not configured

what does this error message mean? should I miss something?

thanks!
Nelson

It appears you are reading outdated instructions. In order to make sure the page is updated accordingly, what page were you reading?

You should be reading this page:

<a href="http://www.freebsddiary.org/ipfilter334.html">http://www.freebsddiary.org/ipfilter334.html</a>

And what version of ipfilter were you using? 3.3.12 is the latest I think

Let us know how that goes.

Yeah, your mistake is that you don't need to do the modload in the 3.4 release - It's already done (I assume).

Anyway, I didn't have to do it to get ipf working correctly. Then again, I also didn't make any device nodes..
