 FreeBSD and SQL and Excel
Author: Raymon

I have been given the chance to start up a database in a position I just acquired - currently the database is set up in excel format. I would like to use sql for the growth potential but know very little about it -

I like the functionality of Access, (ease of use) and have heard that you can use access as a front end for a sql server? (or is this a fairy tale)

If someone could tell me their experiences and/or where I can dig into some information I would appreciate it

Thank You
Raymon

On MySQL page you can donwload the right ODBC driver to install on your win machine. Then you will be able to make all your MS Office apps to read data from MySQL databases.
I'm using this solution on my little private lan.
MySQL is tested on 7millions records databases, so is enought to me.
If you need to use biggest databases you maybe should consider Oracle, but, i dont know any solution to port Oracle on FreeBSD. I have installed it on Linux for some friends, but, as i still prefere to work on FreeBSD i have decided to use MySQL
