 NATD Woes-Please Help
Author: David Elliott

My BSD machine can access the outside & ping the win98 machines on the inside. The win98 machines can ping the bsd gateway 192.168.1.1 but can't seem to get beyond that. DNS is disabled on the win98 machines.

Ipfirewall & Ipdivert are enabled in kernel.

Rc.firewall is diverting 8668 all from any to any via mx0 (the connection to my internal LAN).

Natd.conf has interface mx1,port 8668, use_sockets, same_ports and unregistered_only to yes, and dynamic yes.

rc.d has dhclient mx1, if_config mx0 inet 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0, and natd -f /etc/natd.conf as an executable script that runs at boot-up.

rc.conf has firewall & gateway enabled. if_config for mxo again, network interfaces of mx0 mx1 lo0, natd is enabled using interface mx1 and flags -f /etc/natd.conf.

I appreciate any and all responses.

Why don't you use ipfilter and ipnat it is easier and the diary here gives the best damn intructions I have ever seen on the net. also make sure in your rc.conf in the /etc/defaults has tcp_extentions_enabled=YES and gateway enabled=yes
you should be up in no time. hope this helps a little
