 Perl Module Questions...
Author: el_kab0ng

When installing a few perl modules to interact with the mySQL database, I noticed a few peculiar issues that I'd like to ask about...

Most if not all of the perl modules by default appear to be installed in /usr/libdata/perl/5.00503, yet the PM's for mySQL (DBD and DBI) appear to be installed /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.005/i386-freebsd

I am running 4.1.1, which might be the reason for the change...I'm not sure yet...

My question is, do I need to move all the DBD/DBI PM's over to /usr/libdata/perl/5.00503 to get them to be called correctly? I know you can set the lib's via the CGI themselves, but we're talking quite a few scripts here, and I would rather fix the problems with the directories....

Any thoughts?

hrmf...n/m..I got it fixed... Still don't understand why there are two areas for the PM's...but I managed to re-trace my steps and get the right ones needed....

Looks like perl for FreeBSD was compiled with site specific install directories. These usually default to $PREFIX/lib/..

perl '-V:install.*'

installarchlib='/usr/libdata/perl/5.00503/mach'
installprivlib='/usr/libdata/perl/5.00503'
installbin='/usr/local/bin'
installman1dir='/usr/local/man/man1'
installman3dir='/usr/local/lib/perl5/5.00503/man/man3'
installscript='/usr/local/bin'
installsitearch='/usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.005/i386-freebsd'
installsitelib='/usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.005'
installusrbinperl='undef'
