 Client Authentication with SSL problem
Author: Louis Li

Hi, I followed this topic ( to work through the steps, but it becomes stuck on the last step, step 7. Could anyone help me overcome this?

OpenSSL 0.9.8d Cygwin on Windows 2000
On the 4th step, the command generated an error "openssl is not an internal command blah blah...", so I copied the win32 version of openssl to the working directory

Everything goes fine until step 7:

$ ./openssl rsa < newreq.pem > newkey.pem
unable to load Private Key
2548:error:0906D06C:PEM routines:PEM_read_bio:no start line:.\crypto\pem\pem_lib
.c:644:Expecting: ANY PRIVATE KEY

I chekced my working folder and I can see the files newreq.pem is right there.

I also followed the "HOWTO: Creating your own CA with OpenSSL by Pheng Siong Ng", I can work everything fine except the same command.

The only thing I found different is that my newreq.pem only contains the "BEGIN CERTIFICATE" part, there is no "RSA PRIVATE KEY" part.

Does anyone know what the problem is? Thanks.
