That clean install would be an option. If you get no help here, I'd ask at freebsd-stable@freebsd.org.

I once posted about my concern to upgrade from 4.0 RELEASE to the new 4.1 STABLE....to which I received no reply....

Is it worth it? And if it is....like Dmitry asked...would a clean install be better? Or simply an upgrade?

From 4.0-R to 4.1.1-stable is a pretty straight forward upgrade AFAIK. Just do a make world and go with that. Or you might be able to do a binary install from /stand/sysinstall.

Personally, I'd go for the cvsup, buildworld, and mergemaster option.
