 rename a user from console

I have some annoying users that frequently ask me to change their username for numerous reasons.

The problem I find is that I only seem to be able to do this using vipw, then mv /home/olduser /home/newuser.

The problem with this comes because vipw requires interaction for me to make the changes, I would rather the ability to issue one single command to achieve the same outcome.

I was looking around, and I was hoping this option would be in pw user mod, similar to the usermod in linux distributions, but there's no option.

So how do I solve this problem?
