 adding a scsi drive!!!!!

hello
i want to add a scsi hard drive on my freebsd system.
it's a 3.4 release.
the scsi car (on pci bus) is a adaptec 29160N and the hard drive is an ibm
i think my system can't recognize my card

what can i do to use my card and my drive

ps:the system is installed on a ide drive and i boot on my ide drive.

29160 works OK starting 4.1

Coincidentally, the Adaptect 29160 has ben recommended to me for my SCSI Ultra drives.
